If you’ve never gone out on your own, the economic crisis might have you considering it.  Yet many feel paralyzed by the lack of a “good” idea.  In my experience I’ve found at least 10 things more important than the idea itself… in no particular order.

  1. Passion - High Energy and Commitment is required in any setting!
  2. Your family and close friends - Can’t do it without their support
  3. Access to good developers - if not you, make some new friends:)
  4. Access to information - good information goes a long way
  5. Business Partners that share your Passion - Share and get more done
  6. Access to clients or customers - without financing, you need buyers
  7. Health Insurance - as important as your health
  8. Community - people to talk to
  9. Prototyping and testing - give the ideas a whirl, early
  10. Asking for help - you can’t do it alone… besides, they *want* to help you!
