Last week was awesome!  My daughter's new band, Deux Chattes, opened for Titus Andronicus at the Mercury Lounge along side Care Bears on Fire and Toy Sugar for a benefit concert in support of the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls.  Then I won tickets to every Titus show in 2011 to boot... Man, I'm pushing my luck.

Deux Chattes with Care Bears on Fire.  Care Bears on Fire blew me away... funny, smart, and totally rocking.

Swing Street ain't the Jazzy place it used to be

Thoughts of sadness and smothered genius struck me as I walked down 52nd street between 5th and 6th avenue.  Once known as "Swing Street" and home of  many jazz clubs, it's now a lifeless, urban dessert.  It's hard to believe that Jazz greats like Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker once played there.

I took the photos below during my walk.

Get Inspired by this documentary of the history of Punk

Punk: Attitude[1] is a documentary by contemporary director Don Letts. The film explores the "punk" revolution, genre and following from its beginning in the mid 1970's up to its effect on modern rock music and other genres. The cast is a veritable list of alternative musicians and directors offering their opinions on what may have been the largest music revolution ever.
