Sushi Brunch

dad   photography

Had a great conversation with Lucas and Alex over brunch.  They particularly enjoyed the story of my near death experience during a white water rafting trip.

NYC Public School kids got a rare Snow Day

Those are my kids, Alex and Lucas, in the photos.  It is so rare that NYC public schools get a snow day.  Rarer still, are planned snow days.  School Chancellor, Joel Klein, officially declared a snow day yesterday... hours before it began to snow.  He's suddenly become the most popular dude with NYC public school kids.

Alex's School Winter Concert was Awesome

dad   photography

That's Mr. Lagrimas and his Army of musicians.

I went to the NEST+M Middle School Music and Art Festival.  The kids played beautifully.  Very impressed.

100+ 13 year olds --- That's an incredibly complex management problem:)

Alex(daughter) is the girl smiling way in the back with the horn section.

Swing Street ain't the Jazzy place it used to be

featured   music   photography

Thoughts of sadness and smothered genius struck me as I walked down 52nd street between 5th and 6th avenue.  Once known as "Swing Street" and home of  many jazz clubs, it's now a lifeless, urban dessert.  It's hard to believe that Jazz greats like Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker once played there.

I took the photos below during my walk.

93 Photos for 93 Days of Summer

These are the last 5 photos of my summer photo project, 93 Photos of Summer.  I posted one photo each day this summer.  I did this project to learn a little about photography.  I learned so much more.  It turned out to be great experience... fun, introspective, educational and more.  I'll share some of those lessons in future posts.
